Hi DianeGreg, POTS stand for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. It can cause disregulation in HR & BP with changes in standing, sitting, laying down. If you do a Google search you can find more info, but some symptoms can be, fatigue, muscle weakness, slurred speach, difficulty swallowing... all things by daughter also gets with MG. She absolutely has MG, but sometimes these symptoms are really bad in the morning, which isn't typical of MG but IS typical for POTS. We believe the two conditions have been triggering each other and making things more difficult to treat.

Hi AManey, thanks so much for your nice note. Refresh my memory if you would please. What does POTS stand for. I used to know, but can't for the life of me, remember what it is now. My memory is shot now too. I have a terrible time trying to remember words.......not just names and dates, but words!!! Very alarming!!!! I guess that's part of MG as well. 🤤

My daughter with MG was recently diagnosed with POTS. We believe that's causing her BP and Heart Rate disregulation. POTS & MG actually have similarities in both symptoms and treatments. Her POTS symptoms definitely are worse when she's having an MG flare as well. They seem to trigger each other. Maybe something to look into for you?

I started to have high blood pressure for the first time in my life when I did my first prednisone trial. It was one of the many side effects I had while on it. I hoped that it would be a temporary side effect. They started me on the blood pressure medication then. I’ve been on it since, and am not able to get off of it. It keeps my blood pressure low. I wasn’t exactly happy about that because this was even after discontinuing prednisone. I learned to just be content to be grateful that my blood pressure was low, and to realize that there could be much worse things happening.

BUT NOW, my blood pressure is acting up, and I’ve had a couple high readings lately at appointments so I’ve started tracking myself to figure out what is going on?! My self observations and medical appointments to address this have not been completed yet but so far I have noticed that I now have a sensitivity to coffee/caffeine. (Never had an issue before, and have been a daily coffee/caffeine drinker for many years.) But it will now shoot my blood pressure up in a hurry, and for hours on end. I’m still trying to figure out what other contributing factors may be creating this new shift.
