Hi DChristineOdonnell. I’m seronegative also. So what this means is that I’ve tested negative for all the known antibodies so far.

Make sure that your neuro has tested you for not just Musk. This is critical because new medications are finally being created for MG patients and none have been approved for seronegatives (yet!). If you are indeed positive for one of the other antibodies, it will make you eligible for other treatments in the future (if your doctor and insurance approves them of course.)

I will attach a link to MG America’s webpage that describes all the antibodies and tests to go through for a thorough diagnosis.

Essentially you will see that you need to check for these antibodies: ACHR (3 types: binding, blocking, modulating), MUSK (you have done this), and LRP4.

If you test negative on those, you’ll see the article mentions that 20% of such patients will test positive on a cell based assay test which is a much more sensitive test.

The article ends by explaining all the other means of getting a diagnosis besides these lab tests and having antibodies, which it looks like you have already started since you had a scan. Hope this info helps. :)

I know I had the musk test and neurologist did a cat scan of my thymus. The musk was negative. Neurologist said I'm seronegatvie. Can that change to ser positive?

Do you happen to know which tests they have done already? There are several, and maybe they have not done all of them yet. Possibly you could request others.

If you are seronegative for myasthenia gravis (MG), it means that initial blood tests did not detect the common antibodies associated with MG, such as acetylcholine receptor (AChR) or muscle-specific kinase (MuSK) antibodies. However, being seronegative does not rule out MG. Here are some points to consider:

If you are seronegative for myasthenia gravis (MG), it means that initial blood tests did not detect the common antibodies associated with MG, such as acetylcholine receptor (AChR) or muscle-specific kinase (MuSK) antibodies. However, being seronegative does not rule out MG. Here are some points to consider:

- Seronegative MG: Around 15% of people with MG do not have detectable AChR or MuSK antibodies.
- Additional Antibodies: Some seronegative patients may have low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 4 (LRP4) antibodies.
- Further Testing: Your doctor may consider additional tests like electromyography (EMG) or repetitive nerve stimulation to confirm the diagnosis.

It's important to follow your neurologist's recommendations for further testing and evaluation.
