I Am Seronegative MG And Have Fatigue Still After Christmas Activities. Is There Other Medication Besides Mestinon For Me?
Make sure you have your doctor go over the side effects of each option, as well as the invasiveness and how.long the benefits last.
Yes, there are other treatment options for myasthenia gravis beyond Mestinon (pyridostigmine). Depending on your symptoms and needs, your doctor might consider immunosuppressants, corticosteroids, or monoclonal antibodies. Plasma exchange or intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) may also be options for severe cases. It's Show Full Answer
Thank you for mentioning B12 shots. I was on them a couple of years ago and will mention them to my doctor.
I sometimes have a hard time recovering from the fatigue of special events. Christmas is so much more than a one-day celebration; it's a whole season, and I think the fatigue from that is probably hard for most of us. I'm also seronegative and have been disappointed that there are so many fewer treatment options for us. My recommendation (and I am not a medical professional, just an old lady with experience 😉) is to talk to your doctor about whether Vitamin B12 shots would be an option for you. It helps keep my energy levels up without the side effects of IVIG or corticosteroids.
Wishing you all the best!
