I never thought the mucus was from meds. I have sleep apnea and found I had too much mucous to tolerate my bi-pap. This is a question I can take back to my doctors. Thank you for raising the question.

I seem to have quite a bit of mucus in my head morning, especially sometimes it wakes me up early in the morning. Can’t breathe through my nose. I take mastodon. The generic brand. My doctor gave me Claritin 10 mg I take half in the morning and half at bedtime. It helps some with the mucus and the sinus drainage. I do not take Claritin-D because I have HBP and it raises your HBP I just take the plain Claritin.

I recommend talking to your doctor. When I have a phlegm-y cough I use guiafanessin. And, if either of you have sleep apnea, check in with your sleep med doctor. I hope helpful!!

Yes the phlegm is really bad. Some days it gets so bad that I want to vomit. But normally I just cough my head off. People look at you like your contagious.
