Just Wondering If Any Of You Have Ever Tried Prism Glasses For Double Vision. If So, Did It Help?
I had ocular at first , the eye dr did not diagnose me correctly. Said it was my age. I had double vision . Paid $850 for the prism glasses . No good . I went from there to a crisis with General MG. I had to wear a patch , took 6months to correct the double vision when I got on high steroids. I am winging down 5mg every 6 weeks . I am so afraid my double vision will come back . Also on CellCept, IVIG, Pyridostigmine 4x daily . But I am doing good !
I went the prism route for the double vision. They were minimally effective because the symptoms of OMG seem to be ever changing. Went to an ophthalmologist who had experience with OMG. He was very gracious in indicating that he could do nothing until the symptoms were stabilized with the right medication. I am doing the necessary steps to move from Mestinon to an infusion med, Stiliras. I'm sure I spelled it incorrectly. But it will be about 2 months before I am able to access the infusion med.
Some short term hints from optometry/Opthalmology: I was advised that sometimes icing the droopy eye lid(s) can help for relief for a short while. In an opthamologist's office they taped my eye once to get through testing of my droopy eye. But honestly the stickiness only lasts so long and it depends how much your eye droop fights.
Hope helpful.
I have a minimal correction prism in my right lense. Helps 99% of the time. My headaches have decreased.
Initially no but as my symptoms got worse yes there is an art to eye glass prescriptions. Also on any day you can be better or worse. So fitting can be difficult
