My current treatment is 10 mg Prednisone and Mestinon 60 mg 4 times daily which usually controls symptoms.

Hot flashes and sudden weakness can sometimes occur as side effects of prednisone or Mestinon (pyridostigmine). Prednisone can cause hormonal changes, leading to hot flashes, while Mestinon may cause muscle cramps or weakness if the dose is too high. Physical activity can also exacerbate MG symptoms. Ed, thank you so so very much for letting me know how your treatment is going. I see my neurologist again in 5 weeks and will talk to him about IVIG treatments, Vyygard, etc. Thank you so much for your insight. Merry Christmas to you too.

One last thing Mary. It is great that they are able to subdue the symptoms with medication. Although there is no cure, there are Treatments that can reduce your symptoms to a point that it may be possible to get off of medications (Prednisone and Pyridostigmine) totally. The treatments, such as VYVGARD-HYTRULO may have some risks of their own to contend with. I just found a Neurologist (after 4 months of searching) that took me on as a patient. Right now I am in the middle of 5 IVIG Treatments. That is just to get me back on track. On December 26th., I get to meet with her, in her office and discuss further Treatments. My sites are set on VYVGARD, to see if it, or one of the other treatments like it will quell my symptoms and hopefully wean me off of the meds. Prednisone is not good for you to take for an extended period of time. Read up on Prednisone especially. Good luck with your treatments. I highly encourage you to seek advice from your Neurologist for treatments in place of medications. Merry Christmas.

Hello Mary,
This regiment has been working well for me . I Have tried lower doses of Prednisone but had flare ups so I have stayed with this regiment. I have gained weight ,have mood swings and insomnia but I have found a vitamin supplement: Nutranize by Dr Megan on internet; it is somewhat expensive though but my wife seems to like my personality better while I’m taking these. I have learned to get plenty of rest also.
