So Is There A General Rule Of Thumb On Vaccinations? Upcoming Flu And Covid Shots Are Offered Everywhere. I Was Advised To Avoid Them.
Hey Yvett: Good Morning to you. I had some procedures a while back and was advised to get various vaccinations, which I did. I was told they needed to be completed at least 30 days prior to the procedure. Your doctor should be a good source of advice. I am with Kaiser Permanente and they have a messaging system on line where I can ask for advice or whatever.
Cheers, Bill Z
Just got off a presentation on that The bottom line is vaccines boosters and everything boost the immune system so if you are very very sensitive to changes in immune system like I am then it can cause exacerbation of symptoms. But usually that is not an issue for many, so having the COVID,flu and the other vaccines is considered safe for MG patients as long as it's not live. The nasal flu vaccine is live That is one you cannot have. Studies do show covid with the non vaccinated can be much more serious in an MG patient so you have to weigh the risks versus the benefits.
Both my neurologist and PCP highly recommend getting flu, pneumonia and COVID shots. My neurologist cautioned against a "live" vaccine, but to my knowledge none of the vaccines I've received fall into this category.
I get a flu shot & Covid vaccine booster shot in the same arm at Walgreens always my left shoulder, every year.
I have gotten them every year since my MG diagnosis. Told by my neurologist to get them.
I Have Avoided Getting Flue Shots And Vaccinations In General. This Has Been My Own Decision Not With Any Medical Advice. Right Or Wrong?
