How Do You Handle The Weight Gain?

Phyllis you think it might be due to the prednisone? I always felt like eating the wallpaper off the walls. It sounds like you are motivated and doing pool work etc whenever you can which I applaud you for. If the prednisone is making you feel better and you are gaining weight that’s a tough one. I also have Addison’s disease which require replacement steroids as we don’t produce cortisol. I am on hydrocortisone instead of prednisone az hydrocortisone is more closely a physiological replacement. I’ve been high (80 mg or higher) for short bursts for my lungs and it made me balloon up in weight and also nutso. Hope you can find the right balance of meds. So tricky. I am so beyond fatigued I feel like taking some Prednisone as it made me feel like I could rise out of bed and clean the whole house. Lol

I was consistently walking the pool 4 times a week and the Beryl hit our area. Pool is open again but now I have a skin staph infection (probably goes along with the compromised immune system - never had this before) so I can’t swim for two weeks. That swimming helped to stabilize the gain but now I have increased 3 lbs and on my petite frame that is a lot. I am now serious about watching all the carbs, fibers, sugars and proteins to keep them balanced. Lost 1 lb overnight so that made me a happy camper for now. I’m not used to struggling with weight so it is very frustrating for me. I feel like I have become obsessed with this part of MG. I don’t want to go off the 10 mg prednisone since I have felt more energy being on it. Neurologist placed me on cellcept a month ago and I do feel the best I have in years. Goal is to delete the prednisone entirely and continuing with Mestinon and cellcept. Gosh! That was a lot of history for you to consume. Take care.

I'm not happy about my weight gain, which admittedly isn't terribly significant but which I find very frustrating, because it's never been a problem for me before. If I could maintain a consistent excercise program it would probably help, but I haven't been able to do that.
If you can come up with a good plan for dealing with it, I, for one, would be extremely grateful to you, Phyllis!
