Hi Koby:
I had double vision and fuzzy vision when my left eye lid stopped opening. This started in July, 2021. I had new glasses prescribed with prisms and after a few weeks they began to work. A year and a half later, they determined the left eye lid would not ever improve (open) so I underwent eye lid surgery, which failed. Because of that, they did special blood tests and discovered the MG in July 2023. I was started on azathioprine and prednisone immediately and two days after starting the meds, my eye lid opened up and remains open today. The double vision and fuzzy vision went away over several months prior to the surgery. In conclusion, it took 6 or 9 months for the double and fuzzy vision to be mostly gone. It took the left eye lid opening up to completely get my eyesight back to what it was. Of course over the past year they have now discovered glaucoma and macular degeneration problems. I don't know if the meds caused or increased the new eye issues.
Best of luck, praying for you.
Cheers, Bill

I took Mestinon only once and had a severe reaction. I called the neurologist and said I was done with it and he said to hold it in reserve as an emergency med if things get really bad. He said take one and call 911 for an ambulance. I take azathioprine (75 mg per day) for more than one year and it has kept the symptoms under control. Everyone of us will be different, but I told the docs that I wanted to decide what was necessary to live my life. At 78 I guess I deserve that control.

This is one crazy disease. I took only two 30mg of Mestinon and almost called the ambulance, I go so deathly sick. I use the cold eye ice packs and that sometimes help. I just never know when this is going to happen. Trying to make peace with my new normal!

Hi Koby. My eyes don't track together consistently, so I also have fuzzy vision quite often. Mestinon has been a 'wonder drug' for me, but doesn't take care of this problem. I don't tolerate prednisone, and only use it off and on to manage flares. Also don't do well at all with Azathioprine, so don't use that at all. Being seronegative, I'm not a candidate for infusions or other meds that attack anti-AChR antibodies. Most of time I'm able to compensate for my vision issues, but sometimes all I can do is sit in front of the TV until the worst is over. Lack of sleep, stress, and illness definitely make things worse, so I try to stay on a consistent schedule, avoid stress, get plenty of sleep, and stay 'healthy.'
Vision issues can be very frustrating! Hope you get answers soon!
God bless you, friend!

Do you have cataracts? I went on 60 mg on prednisone and in two months had cataracts in both eyes. I had the laser surgery and now see well without glasses. Prednisone also caused me other issues but it probably saved my life.
